    each time i open a pdf and then try to save back, told that it cannot save as there is a file already open with that name so I have to alter the name and then manually delete the original file after exiting the program. How do you set the program to overwrite the existing file?

    Make sure the pdf you open is not read-only, as it will prompt you to save a copy.
