[Major update] doPDF 7.2.353 released

    A new major version was released, doPDF 7.2 build 353. It contains one important feature, now on the Save As dialog you will be able to select between a "Small file" and a "High quality images" filter. Each of these filters uses basically a different compression engine for the documents:

    • Normal ZIP compression for the High quality images filter
    • High JPEG compression for the Small file filter

    By default the "Small file" filter will be selected, but if you're not happy with the quality of the images in the resulting PDF, then you should use the other filter (which increases the size of the resulting PDF).

    We've released a new build for doPDF, 7.2 build 355. Only some small fixes:

    • New: Added full version info for startup application (dopdf.exe from the Program Files directory) to improve version detection for update managers
    • Fix: Corrected Type1 font subsetting (Monospac821 BT Type 1 font was not correctly embedded)

    A new build was released for doPDF, 7.2 build 359. Small fixes since the last version:

    • The uninstaller for doPDF (unins000.exe) is now signed too
    • Optimized the monochrome image conversion
    • Lines created with Highlight in Windows Journal were not printed (fixed now)

    We've released a new build 7.2.363
    This build contains some small fixes and 2 new enhancements:

    • New: Added /InstallOnlyNewerVer parameter for command line installations
    • Fix: Corrected installation on Windows 2000
    • Fix: Correction for Greek character conversions
    • Fix: Correction for rendering patterns

    We've released a new build 7.2.365
    This build contains only 2 fixes/enhancements:

    • New: Added new predefined page sizes (for AutoCAD)
    • Fix: Some customers reported that the Print Spooler hangs on client restart on 32 bit Windows 7 computers, that's fixed now

    Fixes included in this build:

    • Fix: Corrected a problem when printing from Internet Explorer 9 (would crash in certain situations during conversion)
    • Fix: Tiff images printed from Adobe PageMaker were not converted correctly
    • Fix: Corrected downsampling error for 8bpp images
    • Fix: Corrected install on XP 32 bit when the x64 folder does not exist

    • Fix: Corrected problem when converting files with long name
    • Fix: Corrected conversion from Visio when backgrounds were used

    Fixes included in this build:

    • Fix: Skew font characters do not work well, the characters are rotated instead of skewed when printing CAD drawings (idw, ipt, spl).
    • Fix: Spooler crash when printing web pages (from a particular site) through Internet Explorer 9.
    • Fix: Fixed a problem where on x64 systems memory used by splwow64.exe increased with each print.
    • Fix: Conversion problem when printing transparent images with grayscale options on.

    Fixes included in this build:

    • Fix: Changed font names for subset fonts to have correct ANSI characters on documents containing Chinese fonts
    • Fix: For fonts that didn't have italic characters, doPDF calculated an angle for skewing that increased with every character, now is fixed
    • Update: Modified text on About window
