Hello,

Unfortunately doPDF only prints whatever it receives from the source application, in your case Microsoft Word. It cannot setup preferential printing unfortunately. You can set this up manually from Word if you wish for the first page not to be printed however your clients may or may not choose this setup from their end.

Thank you for understanding.

I am creating a great looking Word Doc that i have to convert to PDF to get the fonts correct. The first page has a very colourful image. When it's printed, the image uses up most of a toner cartridge :)

Is there a way to set up the PDF so that the first page isnt printed by my clients?

In case of an unsuccessful installation or compatibility issues the files can be locked by the application in question until the PC is restarted or a file unlocker is used to release the file.

Hello,

We tested the latest doPDF build with the sample you have sent on Office 2010 and Win 7 but the file is printed correctly without any noticeable differences. We suggest you try to reinstall doPDF with the latest version and give it another go. If you still have issues after that, then a screenshot with what you see in that exact file that is not shown correctly would be also good so we know what to look at.

UPDATE
Curiouser & curiouser...
I made a couple more tries and never managed to get all the photo images at 220ppi (I did get one of them to 300ppi, then "lost" it again on the next try).
I gave up and decided to send the ms in to Create Space as is, with the 3 photo images at 220ppi,thinking that maybe the 220ppi images would be good enough.
I just got notice that, according to them, the photo images were all okay, but one (just one, out of 27) "collage" image was 220ppi. Even though PhotoShop says that the photo images are all 220ppi and all the collage images are 300ppi.
I ordered the proof copy. This is very odd...

I have written a book with 30 B&W images in it. The manuscript is in Word, with images inserted.
27 of the images are all flattened collages, created in PhotoShop and saved as JPEG at 300ppi.
3 of the images are photos, edited in PhotoShop and saved as JPEG at 300ppi.
I did a test with the first few pages, containing 1 of the "collage" images and 2 of the photos. Since Word won't save at over 200ppi (please let's not debate this, it's not the issue), I re-inserted each image as follows
Click on an image, select Picture Tools>Format>Change Picture. CHOOSE LINK, Click on desired pic. Quick Print directly to doPDF without saving or making any changes.
NOTE: I tried substituting using both Link and Insert to change pix in the doc. Both ways yielded images that, according to PhotoShop, are 661.111ppi. (Fine by me, as long as it's not LESS than 300ppi.)
Both types of images ("collage" and photo") came out the same: well over 300ppi.
I then tried the same thing with the entire manuscript. Trouble! All the "collage" images came out at 300ppi, as did on photo image. Two of the photo images came out at 220ppi.
Tried again. This time, all of the photo images came out at 220ppi. All the "collage" images were again at 300ppi.
Any suggestions as to the cause of the problem are very welcome.

Word 2003 on Windows 7
I'm having an issue creating a PDF containing word tables that have horizontal borders and background shading.

In the resulting PDF there are teeny tiny vertical tags where you would expect vertical borders to exists, but there should be no vertical borders.

However if a link is "hidden" it will not be converted. There is a commercial program, novapdf, that will install an addin for Microsoft Word, which will convert hidden hyperlinks too.

Hello,

I generated a pdf from a MS Word 2007 document which used the Cambria font. On opening the pdf in OS X, no font could be seen. Everything except the font was seen (bullets, tables etc). PDF was generated on a Win XP SP3 system.

What could be the problem?

Hi Sawman,
doPDF acts like a regular printer, so when you're using it to convert to a pdf would be the same thing as using a regular printer and obtaining the printed paper. I would think this might be a bug in Word 2007, but this should be tested so please send the word document (or at least a page of it with one table that creates problems) to info[at]dopdf[dot]com and I'll look into it.

Hi everyone,

I am using word 2007 with DOPDF V6.1 build 269 and after I did a print to PDF all the tables I had in the document had their lines dissapear in them, in both the PDF and the word document !!! As I was looking at the damage, word auto saved and then I accidently closed the file. I had a back up from the previous day but had alread done stacks of work with tables today and now how to go to each table and reinsert the lines manually.

Any reason why DOPDF would affect the word document? Or is this a windows/word 2007 problem?

Thanks

Sawman
