Iam also very interested in this new question, I hope you will add paper size A0,A1,A2,A3.

I think that with this option doPDF will be the best PDF printer solution for everyone.

No one said that subsets cannot be supported, just that they'll be in a future version. In fact this feature will be included in dopdf 7 which should be released in november or early december.

Right now if you want to reduce the size of the pdf you can choose not to embed the fonts.

In a future version of doPDF we'll embed by default all used font subsets.

This is a quote of yourself:
http://www.dopdf.com/forum/topic/which-fonts-are-supported#post-309

So why is it that subsets are not to be/cannot be supported all of a sudden? In my opinion it makes doPDF completely useless, as a 182KB PDF-file with some text becomes a 2.99MB file when fonts are embedded (whereas if I create the same file with subset of fonts embedded in OpenOffice, the file is only 81KB).

Hi, would you consider changing the interface so the target folder is in a separate input box from the filename? I don't know about you, but I always change the suggested filename to something more meaningful and it's such a pain to move the cursor to the start of the filename, after the backslash of the path. Thanks.

Well the only solution in this case would be to reduce the quality/size of the original images before printing them with dopdf, in order to create a smaller pdf files. You can reduce the quality of the images to about 150dpi and also reduce the size to fit the one of the resulting page (for instance if the resulting pdf file will be letter sized, make sure the images are cropped to fit a letter sized page.

I red you post but in my case I do not use a word to print images to pdf. I print them directly from OS by selecting them all and pressing "print". First I thought that pdf possable thinks that my document is colored ( 1st page was in color - all next grayscale ), he uses larger color palette for all document and that`s why it becomes larger. I tried to use only b/w images. The result was the same - pdf twice larger than source images. Why could it be so?

And what is about a function for adding name, author and other meta-tags ( ex.: first view of document by open - pages by pairs )?

Hi Support,

Thanks for your reply. I figured that you may have a button in mind for the future. I looked into how to create one and found it will be quite a bit of work. Thanks for the Ctrl-P idea. That should serve my clients needs for now. I also like the suggestion to change the behavior of the Print button. I will do this on all my clients machines that use DoPDF or have multiple printers installed. I think that this should be the default behaivor for the button in this case. It is the default behaivor for the Internet Explorer print button. Thanks for the suggestions and for producing a great product...

Hi, we do have such a feature in mind but for the long run, given that's a lot of work to do.

For your client I would suggest to tell him to press Ctrl+P in Publisher, rather than using the Print icon, because using the keyboard will open the window that lets you select dopdf from the printers instead of printing directly. The behavior of the Print icon in the toolbar can be modified by right-clicking on the toolbar, selecting Customize, and after that right-clicking on the Print icon - in the Name section it should be "&Print..." instead of "&Print" so that it will open the window that lets you select the printer.

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if it would be possible to add a toolbar button for office applications? Perhaps a button for Internet Explorer as well.

I have a client that uses DoPDF on his machine. He uses Microsoft Project 2003. When he generates a report and prints it, the select printer option is greyed out. DoPDF must be the default printer to create a PDF of the report. There are other situations that would make a Print to DoPDF button very helpful. If the development team will not consider this feature, can someone point me in the right direction so I can try and create a button myself. Thanks for your support...

I'm not sure if this has been asked on the forum before and if it has, I'm sorry. Is there a way to embed only a subset of the fonts used in the document? I have a two page document written in Japanese characters, and when I convert it with the fonts embedded it goes from 183KB to 44.5MB. That is a HUGE difference and I'm not sure what I can do about it.

Hi,

I'm using the option "Always use this folder".
When printing, I often have to change the proposed filename which is very cumbersome, because there is only one field containg the whole filename inclusive the standard directory. I have to circle around either with the mouse or the keyboard to select only the filename and be able of changing it.

Could you separate the directory name from the filename with two textboxes?
This would greatly increase the usability of this option.
