Hello,

Unfortunately the PDF format supports by default only latin characters. The other characters are added in the PDF as embedded CID font subsets, with Unicode CMaps. You have to use a search text module capable to read this type of text from the PDF files to be able to extract all the characters correctly.

Thank you for understanding.

Hi all,

My Client requirement is to do a PDF search (non-english) in the Search module of his e-learning website. When i try to extract the contents of PDF for indexing, some of the characters are neglected during extraction (empty spaces in that area, when i view the indexed contents in Luke). I am getting these problem for languages like Tamil/Hindi.

The Client is very adamant that he wants PDF search.

What is the solution for this...Please give me a ray of light or guidelines.

Thanks and Regards,

Since I am a eBook lover, so I think some useful site to make the conversion.
There is free PDF to ePub converter online calibre.com but it has a catsh that you may not convert in batch at one time. And it perhaps takes a long time to present you the output files.
Also, you may try this tutorial about how to convert PDF to ePub format. Results depend entirely on the PDFs that you want to convert.
Glad that you got it working.

I reset Adobe back to my default reader and it worked like a charm.
Your assumption that Adobe had a problem was correct and needed to be reset as default.

It's strange, I believe Adobe Reader has a small problem, because we only send a "signal" to open the PDF, basically just like someone double-clicking a PDF file. Have you tried a different pdf viewer, like Foxit PDF reader (free too)? You would have to set it as the default.

Thanks for responding,

Adobe Reader ver 9.4.0 is my default PDF reader, it opens when I select any PDF file.
I realize that Adobe has a ver 10 but they changed the save feature so ver 9 works better for me.

I have doPDF ver 7.2.370 installed as my default printer.
Any further suggestions would be appreciated.

Features of doPDF:

"Open with PDF reader - You can choose to have the PDF opened with the default PDF reader once it's converted."

This feature works great on my XP machine but does not work on my new W7Pro64 machine.
The PDF is generated and goes to the selected folder, it just does not start Adobe Rdr. I tried several versions of Adobe Rdr with no luck.

Hi,everyone!
I am a student of University.I pay $85 for each of my ebooks and have my UoP password and username to open them.
The problem is that I want to move them to my kindle dx which does not support the password part of the pdf file. How can I remove the password protect from this file. Each page is password protected, but I only have to put in my password one time and it opens the whole ebook. However, on the kindle dx, the cursor does not go to the username or password box, so i can't open it on my kindle.I tried buying and using a PDF restrictions remover but all it does is say "Restrictions Removed" but the password protect is still on when I transfer it to the kindle.
Any suggestions of what product to use or what to do?
Pls help!!!
Thank you so much in advance.

We are trialling this product for regularly sending documents by email.

It seems to work well, except for the margins - it is crammed against the top, left side of the frame, and when viewed by some recipients, they are missing the first 10mm from the left and top of the documents.

Is it possible to centralise the document in the frame, or set margins at top and left?

Changing the page size doesn't seem to have the desired effect.

Whenever I try to print an HTML table with colored cell backgrounds, the colors are not preserved in the conversion to PDF format.

For example, when I try to convert the color scale table located at this website,
immigration-usa.com/html_colors.html
, all of the cell color fills become white in the generated PDF file.

Thank you for your help.
