I don't really know of an easy way to do that, I would've guessed by size but given they're scanned sizes will vary a bit. Try to search for a duplicate image finder, I did a quick one and found this http://www.software112.com/products/visual-similarity-duplicate-image-finder.html

Hi all,
I need your assistance! I'm currently in the process of scanning vast amounts of paper files to create a single pdf. So far I happy!

However, there are many duplicate pages in the final pdf.

Does anyone know of way I can identify any page which is duplicated, considering each page is an image?

Please help!

When using "print all worksheets" to create a single pdf from a multi-worksheet excel file, landscape pages are problematic. If a worksheet spills over onto more than one page, then page 1 is fine within the pdf file, but page 2 invariably prints out small scale at top left hand corner of the next page. Then the pdf file reverts to normal page size for the next worksheet page in the sequence. I checked page size and dpi - all set to A4, 300dpi so that's not the problem. Couldn't find solution so cut and pasted large worksheet into four smaller worksheets, all taking 1 page. This time the first 3 pages were fine, but page 4 in the sequence again printed small at top left hand corner. I'm going mad here, can anyone help? Thanks a million.

Hi, basically the best choice to reduce the size of the pdf is to reduce the size of the images - see this post on some tips if you've inserted those images into word - http://www.dopdf.com/forum/topic/keeping-file-size-down

I scanned a 38-page document that I saved as TIF at 2 MB. When I tried converting it to PDF through doPDF, it became a whopping 33 MB. Is there any way I can shrink that to 2 MB or less?

you could also look at the great Sumatra PDF:

http://blog.kowalczyk.info/software/sumatrapdf

it's free, like Adobe Reader, but it's much smaller, much faster and uses far fewer system resources than Adobe's bohemoth (would you believe the full Acrobat install takes almost a Gigabyte of space!).

anon; you should look at OpenOffice.org for a free and simple solution -- whilst Sun's flexible suite isn't much to look at, it's every bit as powerful as Microsoft Office and with it's PDF editing features, even more so.

P.S. (of course, doPDF is what you'll need for all your non-office documents, eg. printing from the internet, CAD programs, etcetera :-)

As an example, if you got a letter from the President, you would want to retain the 'original' document e.g. preseve letter head etc

I would say it depends which president you got that from :).

Anyway, I can't think of another solution for having the scanned document converted. It would be tedious, but if you have the text saved in a word document you could include the letter head as an image in the word document (cropping it from your scan image).

Microsoft Office Document Imaging has only option to save as TIFF or .mdi file (2003 ed). So no option to save as RTF file. However, it does have the option to save as a Word file. However, there is a problem with approach is that I loose the entire document e.g letter head. All it does it copy the text. As an example, if you got a letter from the President, you would want to retain the 'original' document e.g. preseve letter head etc...

I don't know if MODI allows you to save in an .rtf format (or .doc) after performing OCR, but if it doesn't you could copy/paste the OCR-ed document into word and convert it with doPDF from there - this should make it searchable. When you convert TIFF to PDF it will be converted as an image, that's why you have to use the rtf solution.

I have scanned in a letter, but I want to create a PDF so that I can post it on a web site, but I also want the PDF to be 'searchable'.

I have used Microsoft Office Document Imaging and it has created a TIFF file and the OCR has been performed. But when I use doPDF, it creates the PDF as an image and not Searchable PDF. So If I do find the word "Dear", it does not find anythign because it treats it like an image.

Any solutions?

Hi, you have to install a pdf reader, such as the free Adobe Reader:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

Once installed, it'll associate the .pdf extension so when you double-click a PDF file it will open it automatically.

Sorry to ask this silly question, is my first time in this forum, I haven't downloaded the program yet.
Before that I want to know if is possible to fill up a PDF document that I downloaded in my computer, with the information that I need to put in the empty spaces.
I already tried to do it but doesn't allow me because I don't have that program, I only have the Acrobat Reader.
I need to fill up every month information in that sheet; Right now I only print the page and is filled up by hand :-) Can your program add the info when I type on it ?
Thanks
