My Font "Tudor Rose" Seems to have difficulty when embedded by dopdf.

The font is available from http://openfontlibrary.org/font/tudor-rose

When the font is embedded the encoding is garbled (Lorem ipsum becomes Upsfn, lqtvn,) Thus it seems to be one out (except when it isn't)

If the font isn't embedded the correct letters can be seen, so it seems to be a problem with the embedding. Correct pdfs (the preview correctly with Reader) can be produced with pdfcreator, and the font appears to have a correct encoding vector.

My System freezes whenever I print a document with Firefox 9.0.1.
My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and doPDF works fine with all other applications. Even Task Manager hangs and the only viable option is to log off from after pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete.
My doPDF is latest and the problem was with last version too. I use Firefox rarely so I didn't pay much attention to it earlier but sometimes I lose important work as logging off closes all apps.
Thank You

Hi

I was running doPDF on my Win 7 Sp1 for a while (dopdf5, doPDF6, doPDF7)

I recently uninstalled the latest doPDF, and discovered that I have two 'Event Viewer' (administrative event errors) remaining from previous doPDF5 and doPDF6 installs which I cannot shake off:

1- (regarding doPDF5) The print spooler failed to load a plug-in module dopdfmn5.dll, error code 0x7e. See the event user data for context information.

2-(regarding doPDF6) Printer doPDF v6,0 failed to initialize because a suitable doPDF 6 Printer Driver driver could not be found. The new printer settings that you specified have not taken effect. Install or reinstall the printer driver. You might need to contact the vendor for an updated driver.

I have already tried the 'completely uninstall-procedure' under the FAQ here
http://www.dopdf.com/forum/topic/completely-uninstalling-dopdf

It has not got rid of the problem.
I have also tried re-installing and uninstalling these two with RevoUninstall. Again, the two errors persist. (They are errors not Warnings or Information points)

Any pointers? How can I get rid of these? I realise they may not be detremental to the operation of my portable, but I have by now become obsessed by them :-)

Thanks

We are having an issue creating .pdfs from our accounting software. We are trying to generate a large report (over 100 pages). After we select the doPDF printer, we get a dialog from the application that it is working and it hangs for a while. Then we get a connectdll manager error indicating that the SQL server does not exist or access denied. If we hit OK in the error message, the report opens in our PDF reader but the accounting software is now unstable and not responding. I thought it could be a time-out issue so I changed the resolution to 72DPI but it still fails. We are selecting Small file.

We do not have this issue on other free PDF converters. What could be wrong?

I discovered a problem with creating a PDF from a workbook with multiple pages in the spreadsheet. The PDF converter was splitting up 3 and creating 2 PDF files, one with one page and 1 with the remaining 2 pages. After a bit of research, I discovered that the custom footer on 1 of the pages was preventing it from attaching to the other 2 pages in the spreadsheet....SOLUTION- all pages in the spreadsheet must be formatted the EXACT same way to be included in one PDF file. If one page has a footer, all must have the same footer!!!

I created a manuscript, containing a number of B&W images, in Word.
I used dopdf to generate a PDF at 360ppi. I did this by selecting 360ppi under "Properties." I also ticked the "high quality" box (not the "low file size" box) before printing.
However, when I opened the PDF in PhotoShop to check the resolution, Photoshop gave 300ppi as the resolution. It appears that the 360ppi choice was not implemented.
Questions: (1) How can I get dopdf to generate the 360ppi? (2) Is there any sort of "preflight" available with dopdf so that I can check the PDF for resolution, embedded fonts, etc.?
I need the high res PDF for a publisher.

Notes: running Win7, Word, all images linked to file (not inserted), all file images 300ppi (created in PhotoShop).

I’ve uninstalled doPDF per instructions from doPDF website, deleted files from Windows/system32 … etc., re-installed doPDF and same problem …

Is this a conflict with Windows 7? With IE 9?

Additional note:
I ran through Microsoft's printer troubleshooter and it said it made a change to the spooler, (sorry, didn't save that one either), but I WAS able to print the MS Troubleshooter page, but even after that I was unable to print the AutoTrader pages.

Is doPDF really free?
Yes it’s free for both personal and commercial use. Has no watermarks, ads, or other annoying limitations. When installing it you can read the EULA where it clearly states the free policy, or you can download it here: doPDF EULA.

Is there an user manual for doPDF?
Yes, you can download it here: doPDF User Manual (PDF file)

I cannot get it to work because there is no .exe file. How do I use doPDF?
See this detailed post: How to create PDF files with doPDF

How can I download doPDF?
You can download doPDF by clicking on the Get it button from the main page or visiting the Download page and selecting a mirror site. Another page will open where you can download doPDF by clicking on the Download Now button.

Can I install it silently?
Yes, the setup for doPDF supports a list of command line parameters that let you among others to silent install it. You can read this post for a list of all the accepted command line parameters: Silent install parameters for doPDF.

Which operating systems does doPDF run on?
doPDF currently runs on Windows 2000, Windows XP (32 and 64-bit), Windows 2003 Server (32 and 64-bit), Windows Vista (32 and 64-bit), Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7 (32, 64-bit). Starting with version 5.2 doPDF works on the 64-bits version of Windows XP, Vista, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2008 Server or Windows 7. It doesn't work on Mac (Mac computers have a built-in feature to create PDF files) or Linux.

Can I set up doPDF as a shared network printer or use it via Terminal Servers?
No, doPDF doesn't allow printing in a network environment. This includes any attempt to control your computer remotely, including Terminal Services connections, Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections and Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) connections.
If you're looking for PDF printer that allows the above mentioned printing methods, you can take a look at novaPDF Server.

Why are semitransparent watermarks printed incorrectly?
doPDF does not properly handle semitransparent text watermarks when printing MS Word documents. Until we find a solution and fix this, a workaround is to uncheck the Semitransparent checkbox from Format->Background->Printed Watermark menu and to choose instead a ligher custom color for the watermark.

How do I uninstall doPDF completely?
Please see this: Completely uninstalling doPDF

How do I log the doPDF installation?

Run command line (Start->Run, type cmd and press Ok). Through the command line interface go to the folder where the doPDF setup is saved (usually Desktop) type dopdf.exe /InstallLog and press Enter.

The installation wizard will start. Finish the installation and a log file called doPDFInstall.log will appear in the root of your C drive (full path is C: //doPDFInstall.log).

Does doPDF work with MS Publisher files?
Yes, doPDF can convert a Publisher file to a PDF. doPDF works with any application that supports printing, simply select it as the printer and when you'll hit Print from that application a PDF will be created.

How can I print images in a specific order using doPDF?
If you have a set of images and want to create a PDF file that will have them in a specific order you can do so through the Windows Photo Printing Wizard. Please see this post for details: Print images in order

How to keep the PDF file size down?
First of all, doPDF allows font embedding so if you have the option Embed Fonts checked then the size of the resulting PDF file will be considerably larger. You can reduce the size by unchecking that option before re-creating the PDF. Additionally, you can see the advices in this post on how to keep the filesize down when there are images in the original document: Keeping filesize down

Why does dopdf print multiple PDFs from a single Excel sheet?
Actually this is an issue with the way Excel sends the pages for printing. Please see this article: Printing an entire Excel workbook to a single PDF file

PDFs open with Adobe Acrobat instead of Adobe Reader. Why?
This might be because you've installed Adobe Acrobat after installing Reader, and the PDF file association modified. Please see this article for details: Why Files Open in Acrobat, Not Reader?

Who designed the dopdf.com website?
The design is a derivative work of the "Curiously Green" template created by NodeThirtyThree and released under a Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 license.

I took over IT Operations at a small business and their home written stuff requires doPDF 5 and no newer version. I need to get a copy of version 5. The website here says 5 is there but when I download and then install, it shows 6.1. Where can I find the official doPDF5?

Thanks!

I have an adobe PDF that is adobe reader extended. (which means you can save it and add signatures). I am using doPDF to make the PDF smaller. When I print the PDF from adobe reader using doPDF it does not print the ink signed signature on the newly create PDF. If I print it from Abobe Acrobat Pro using doPDF it prints the ink signature fine. Any ideas on how to get the ink signature to print in adobe reader using doPDF.

Windows XP SP3 latest updates. I've tried all the advice that I can find on this site regarding uninstall/reinstall, delete files, check path names, environment variables, latest download, etc. The installation always proceeds and completes with no errors, but there is never a new printer added.
Any additional advice?

[I checked the FAQ first.]

I installed on Windows7 32-bit Home Premium.

When I print a web page (from Chrome v15) and get the Save As PDF dialog from doPDF, it provides the same default filename everytime instead of using the html title. Could you change this?

When I click OK, the dialog disappears immediately but it takes 5+ minutes for a 10 page PDF to be created with no indication that doPDF is doing anything. (That's enough time for me to check the Events dialog to verify it hasn't crashed.) Can you provide a progress meter instead?

After the pdf is created from the web page, the text isn't searchable nor can the text be selected. Can you include this in the PDF so I don't have to use OCR?

If these are features only of a paid virtual printer, I would consider it. NovaPDF's features list doesn't indicate any of the ones I've mentioned.

With the exception of the title heading, the whole document comes out beautifully.
However, the heading on each page was done using WordArt in MS Word and while the actual title is almost visible it's completely covered with some variegated copper-colored bars. Is there a cure for this problem? How do I remove the blockage bars or avoid them being added to the document?

Hi,
I'm using latest version of dopdf on windows 7 and IE 8. When I try to save on any other location than "my documents" I get this error message:
"you re not authorized to write at this place..." and the system asks me if I want to use my user's folder instead (c:\users\xxxx\)?
It happens only with IE, it works fine with chrome, firefox etc... I've checked user rights on this partition and internet options in IE. It's like I dont have rights on destination folder, just "my documents" location
Do you have an idea?

Hi there,

I have created a OpenOffice Writer document containing up to 14 pages with JPEG files included and the file size is about 700 Kb.

As soon as I start converting it with doPDF with the lowest resolution (72dpi) I get back a huge file size of more than 3 MB, I tried several tests with different files simply containg some pages but I am noticing that every time the converted PDF file is multiplied by 3 (minimum) rather amazing.

If I use a free online PDF convertor from the Internet, it works fine given that the converted PDF file remains the same as my original file.

Is anyone aware of this issue? I read on the forum that some other users had proposed to reinstall the version 5 to get rid off this "bug" but before rolling back, I would like to get your advice, thanks in advance.

Hi,

since I've got Windows 7 and try to fill in the pdf-file name with cut&paste, e. g. by copying the headline from the source HTML document to the input dialog, it doesn't work.

Is it a problem of doPDF or with Windows 7, e. g. DDE-service?

Hi,everyone!
I am a student of University.I pay $85 for each of my ebooks and have my UoP password and username to open them.
The problem is that I want to move them to my kindle dx which does not support the password part of the pdf file. How can I remove the password protect from this file. Each page is password protected, but I only have to put in my password one time and it opens the whole ebook. However, on the kindle dx, the cursor does not go to the username or password box, so i can't open it on my kindle.I tried buying and using a PDF restrictions remover but all it does is say "Restrictions Removed" but the password protect is still on when I transfer it to the kindle.
Any suggestions of what product to use or what to do?
Pls help!!!
Thank you so much in advance.
