My Font "Tudor Rose" Seems to have difficulty when embedded by dopdf.

The font is available from http://openfontlibrary.org/font/tudor-rose

When the font is embedded the encoding is garbled (Lorem ipsum becomes Upsfn, lqtvn,) Thus it seems to be one out (except when it isn't)

If the font isn't embedded the correct letters can be seen, so it seems to be a problem with the embedding. Correct pdfs (the preview correctly with Reader) can be produced with pdfcreator, and the font appears to have a correct encoding vector.

Can you send us a screenshot with this issue to our supports address at support@novaPDF.com so we can have a look at this and try to replicate the issue?

Hi,

If that particular addon is causing the freezing issues you will need to contact its developers for a resolution or find an update for it. doPDF acts just like a normal printer when converting, it doesn't integrate with Firefox to cause any compatibility issues with other addon modules that may be installed.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi Soft, I just figured out it was an Internet Download Manager Integration Module Add-on which creating this freezing issue. If some user having this issue ask them to restart the FF with disable all Add-on and enable one by one, So it will tell them which particular Add-on is clashing with DoPDF. If this possible your developer check on this and provide the solution or I have to ask to IDM.

Hello,

We have tried to replicate the issues but both our tested versions uninstalled successfully. What we can suggest related tothe novaPDF 5 version error is for you to go to the registry path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors\ , find the novaPDF 5 entry and remove it from there.

Regarding novaPDF 6 there is also a registry key you need to find and remove but that one depends on the OS so it would be the best to just search the registry editor for any novapdf 6 values and remove those. Additionally, go to the Devices and printers area, click on any of the printers, click on the Print server properties button , go to drivers and remove the dopdf 6 value if present.

If this does not work either then there must be some other applications installed that use the printers one way or another and prevented them from uninstalling so an accurate test case for troubleshooting cannot be made from here unfortunately.

Thank you.

I have already been through this cycle twice. I re-installed doPDF5, rebooted, made sure the Event error had disappeared, then I uninstalled it - first with the built-in uninstaller, and on a second round with Revo-Uninstaller (set at its most aggressive mode).

Alas, after each cycle, the Event error has re-appeared soon after uninstall.

(I did the same two cycles with doPDF6 also.)

In both cases the Event error disappeared after install, but re-appeared after uninstall.

I am baffled!

Hi,

Please install and uninstall each of the versions again by using our uninstaller from the add remove programs. Also make sure you restart your computer after each uninstallation. There may have been some leftovers either in the registry or the printer drivers.

So typically install v5 from http://www.dopdf.com/download/setup/dopdf-5.exe , restart the pc, then uninstall it and restart the PC again. After that install v6 from http://www.dopdf.com/download/setup/dopdf-6.exe , restart , uninstall it and restart again.

Eventually after all this is over you can also search for any remaining files using the link you specified in the previous post.

Hi

I was running doPDF on my Win 7 Sp1 for a while (dopdf5, doPDF6, doPDF7)

I recently uninstalled the latest doPDF, and discovered that I have two 'Event Viewer' (administrative event errors) remaining from previous doPDF5 and doPDF6 installs which I cannot shake off:

1- (regarding doPDF5) The print spooler failed to load a plug-in module dopdfmn5.dll, error code 0x7e. See the event user data for context information.

2-(regarding doPDF6) Printer doPDF v6,0 failed to initialize because a suitable doPDF 6 Printer Driver driver could not be found. The new printer settings that you specified have not taken effect. Install or reinstall the printer driver. You might need to contact the vendor for an updated driver.

I have already tried the 'completely uninstall-procedure' under the FAQ here
http://www.dopdf.com/forum/topic/completely-uninstalling-dopdf

It has not got rid of the problem.
I have also tried re-installing and uninstalling these two with RevoUninstall. Again, the two errors persist. (They are errors not Warnings or Information points)

Any pointers? How can I get rid of these? I realise they may not be detremental to the operation of my portable, but I have by now become obsessed by them :-)

Thanks

My System freezes whenever I print a document with Firefox 9.0.1.
My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and doPDF works fine with all other applications. Even Task Manager hangs and the only viable option is to log off from after pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete.
My doPDF is latest and the problem was with last version too. I use Firefox rarely so I didn't pay much attention to it earlier but sometimes I lose important work as logging off closes all apps.

Hello,

Unfortunately the only way we can troubleshoot this properly is to actually have the report available for testing purposes. We tried a 100+ file to print but everything went smoothly.

doPDF only prints whatever it receives from the application when used so most likely this is either a compatibility issue or something is going wrong when communicating with the SQL server when the report is being created and converted (connection timeout issues with the sql server).

We are having an issue creating .pdfs from our accounting software. We are trying to generate a large report (over 100 pages). After we select the doPDF printer, we get a dialog from the application that it is working and it hangs for a while. Then we get a connectdll manager error indicating that the SQL server does not exist or access denied. If we hit OK in the error message, the report opens in our PDF reader but the accounting software is now unstable and not responding. I thought it could be a time-out issue so I changed the resolution to 72DPI but it still fails. We are selecting Small file.

We do not have this issue on other free PDF converters. What could be wrong?

I discovered a problem with creating a PDF from a workbook with multiple pages in the spreadsheet. The PDF converter was splitting up 3 and creating 2 PDF files, one with one page and 1 with the remaining 2 pages. After a bit of research, I discovered that the custom footer on 1 of the pages was preventing it from attaching to the other 2 pages in the spreadsheet....SOLUTION- all pages in the spreadsheet must be formatted the EXACT same way to be included in one PDF file. If one page has a footer, all must have the same footer!!!

Hi,

A PDF does not actually have a resolution since it can contain different objects (text, images, stamps, video, audio etc.) However if you want to check the resolution for the images within the document you can use the preflight tool within the Acrobat Professional editions. This tool allows the users to accurately check image content by setting a resolution threshold.

Unfortunately we are not aware of any non Adobe tool to check for this specific functionality.

....
Is there any non-Adobe program that I can use to verify the resolution of my PDF before sending it to the printer?
....
I did some further testing as well: I removed a couple of the original 300ppi images that were linked to file in the Word doc, and replaced them with new image files saved at 350ppi. I then generated a PDF using dopdf, with 360ppi selected. Next, I opened the PDF in Photoshop. Result: the images that were originally 350ppi remained at 350ppi, and the images that were originally 300ppi remained at 300ppi. So it appears that Photoshop somehow ignores the dopdf instructions and reads whatever was in the original Word document, including the resolution of the linked images.
End result: it appears that perhaps if I want to be sure of having higher resolution images, I may have to resample and re-link all the original image files.
NOTE: All images in the Word doc were linked to the original image files, not "inserted." While working with Word, if the user hits "Save" Word will save "inserted" images at 200ppi regardless of the original file resolution.

Hello,

We have tested the dpi settings but the problem seems to be that Photoshop reduces the dpi to 300 when opening the document after it is printed. Word does not have a specific option for reducing the dpi and doPDF supports all the dpi resolutions until 2400 as we have tested it with multiple pictures so most likely it is from Photoshop.

Thank you.

I created a manuscript, containing a number of B&W images, in Word.
I used dopdf to generate a PDF at 360ppi. I did this by selecting 360ppi under "Properties." I also ticked the "high quality" box (not the "low file size" box) before printing.
However, when I opened the PDF in PhotoShop to check the resolution, Photoshop gave 300ppi as the resolution. It appears that the 360ppi choice was not implemented.
Questions: (1) How can I get dopdf to generate the 360ppi? (2) Is there any sort of "preflight" available with dopdf so that I can check the PDF for resolution, embedded fonts, etc.?
I need the high res PDF for a publisher.

Notes: running Win7, Word, all images linked to file (not inserted), all file images 300ppi (created in PhotoShop).

Hi,

You are getting the big file size most probably because of the images included in the presentations.

doPDF prints whatever it receives from the source application and does not do any further processing on the pages so images are printed using the highest possible quality.

To make the size smaller, enabling the "small file" option in the Save PDF File window and removing font embedding can make a big difference.

Also i will have to ask you to make a separate topic for any issues you have in the future and not reply to stickies.

Thank you for understanding.
