I have about 300 images that I would like to get onto a page with 9 on each page, but I would also like the filename to show up under each image. I see that it is possible if I do 35 images on a sheet in the wallet size, but that is too small for me. Can this somehow be done for 9 images per sheet? Please help.

thanks

My Font "Tudor Rose" Seems to have difficulty when embedded by dopdf.

The font is available from http://openfontlibrary.org/font/tudor-rose

When the font is embedded the encoding is garbled (Lorem ipsum becomes Upsfn, lqtvn,) Thus it seems to be one out (except when it isn't)

If the font isn't embedded the correct letters can be seen, so it seems to be a problem with the embedding. Correct pdfs (the preview correctly with Reader) can be produced with pdfcreator, and the font appears to have a correct encoding vector.

Hi,

We cannot assist you in other matters if they are not related to doPDF specifically or its functionality. Our printer converts whatever it receives from the application, it does not make any changes upon the original file or program as it does not contain any options of this sort.

Thank you for understanding.

Thanks for responding. I am using Internet Explorer 9, but just upgraded from ie8 last week. I now get (but don't want): animated text, tab marks don't show ( want them to show), print layout view (instead of normal), lots of "smart" editing, and probably a few other things. I print to pdf files from Outlook, Word, Excel (all Office 2003) and web sites - and do so often. After re-opening Word, I DO save the normal.dot template, and it stays that way for a day or two. I use Adobe Reader 9 for viewing the pdf files. I have tried to identify exactly what scenario changes the settings, but haven't been able to reproduce exactly when the changes occur. Any suggestions would be wonderful.

I'm a bit confused by what you say, but if I've understood correctly, if I've created a pdf file without embedding fonts and then open it on a computer which doesn't have one of the fonts available and my pdf reader substitutes a very different font, then the layout of the document may change.

I have tried a bit of experimenting, and it is something that seems to vary with different pdf readers. I've only tried one or two documents, but Adobe seems to manage the font substitution reasonably well by adjusting the size of the font it uses to be as close as possible to the original one, thus maintaining the document layout pretty well. However, another pdf reader I tried made a very poor attempt - not just messing up the layout, but not even presenting anything readable.

Different documents and fonts may of course produce different results.

Hello,

The layout will not change if a different font is used when creating the PDF but if the PDF fonts are fairly different in size or length than the original font, they will not be shown correctly in the document after conversion. So it is recommended to use embed fonts every time you have a different font in the original file to preserve the way it looks in the PDF document after conversion, even if the size will be bigger.

Thank you.

I sometimes transcribe ancient documents into Word (.docx) files, and as far as possible try to preserve the layout of the originals - eg line and page breaks in the same place. Also for handwritten documents I sometimes use a mixture of fonts to represent different people's handwriting.

When using doPDF to convert the files to pdfs, I find that if I embed the fonts the file size becomes vastly bigger than the original .docx file, so I tend not to embed fonts.

What I would like to know is, if the fonts I used are not available when the pdf file is opened and the pdf reader chooses a substitute, will the layout of my document nevertheless remain exactly the same, or is it liable to change when different fonts are used? While it is not the end of the world for the fonts to be changed, it can matter a lot if the page layout changes.

Please can anyone help with this?

Hi,

If that particular addon is causing the freezing issues you will need to contact its developers for a resolution or find an update for it. doPDF acts just like a normal printer when converting, it doesn't integrate with Firefox to cause any compatibility issues with other addon modules that may be installed.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi Soft, I just figured out it was an Internet Download Manager Integration Module Add-on which creating this freezing issue. If some user having this issue ask them to restart the FF with disable all Add-on and enable one by one, So it will tell them which particular Add-on is clashing with DoPDF. If this possible your developer check on this and provide the solution or I have to ask to IDM.

Hello,

We have tried to replicate the issues but both our tested versions uninstalled successfully. What we can suggest related tothe novaPDF 5 version error is for you to go to the registry path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors\ , find the novaPDF 5 entry and remove it from there.

Regarding novaPDF 6 there is also a registry key you need to find and remove but that one depends on the OS so it would be the best to just search the registry editor for any novapdf 6 values and remove those. Additionally, go to the Devices and printers area, click on any of the printers, click on the Print server properties button , go to drivers and remove the dopdf 6 value if present.

If this does not work either then there must be some other applications installed that use the printers one way or another and prevented them from uninstalling so an accurate test case for troubleshooting cannot be made from here unfortunately.

Thank you.

I have already been through this cycle twice. I re-installed doPDF5, rebooted, made sure the Event error had disappeared, then I uninstalled it - first with the built-in uninstaller, and on a second round with Revo-Uninstaller (set at its most aggressive mode).

Alas, after each cycle, the Event error has re-appeared soon after uninstall.

(I did the same two cycles with doPDF6 also.)

In both cases the Event error disappeared after install, but re-appeared after uninstall.

Hi,

Please install and uninstall each of the versions again by using our uninstaller from the add remove programs. Also make sure you restart your computer after each uninstallation. There may have been some leftovers either in the registry or the printer drivers.

So typically install v5 from http://www.dopdf.com/download/setup/dopdf-5.exe , restart the pc, then uninstall it and restart the PC again. After that install v6 from http://www.dopdf.com/download/setup/dopdf-6.exe , restart , uninstall it and restart again.

Eventually after all this is over you can also search for any remaining files using the link you specified in the previous post.

Hi

I was running doPDF on my Win 7 Sp1 for a while (dopdf5, doPDF6, doPDF7)

I recently uninstalled the latest doPDF, and discovered that I have two 'Event Viewer' (administrative event errors) remaining from previous doPDF5 and doPDF6 installs which I cannot shake off:

1- (regarding doPDF5) The print spooler failed to load a plug-in module dopdfmn5.dll, error code 0x7e. See the event user data for context information.

2-(regarding doPDF6) Printer doPDF v6,0 failed to initialize because a suitable doPDF 6 Printer Driver driver could not be found. The new printer settings that you specified have not taken effect. Install or reinstall the printer driver. You might need to contact the vendor for an updated driver.

I have already tried the 'completely uninstall-procedure' under the FAQ here
http://www.dopdf.com/forum/topic/completely-uninstalling-dopdf

It has not got rid of the problem.
I have also tried re-installing and uninstalling these two with RevoUninstall. Again, the two errors persist. (They are errors not Warnings or Information points)

Any pointers? How can I get rid of these? I realise they may not be detremental to the operation of my portable, but I have by now become obsessed by them :-)

Thanks

Thanks. I guess when links are hidden, I'll have to copy and paste into OpenOffice and print using their pdf option.

Hello,

We tested the Firefox 9.0.1 version with multiple doPDF builds and there were no issues printing web pages from it. Perhaps there is a certain page or pages you want to print and you are receiving the errors. If you can let us know such as page so we can also test it from here it would be great.

Thank you.

My System freezes whenever I print a document with Firefox 9.0.1.
My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and doPDF works fine with all other applications. Even Task Manager hangs and the only viable option is to log off from after pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete.
My doPDF is latest and the problem was with last version too. I use Firefox rarely so I didn't pay much attention to it earlier but sometimes I lose important work as logging off closes all apps.
Thank You

Hello,

Unfortunately you cannot setup a certain size to be imposed for the PDF when converting to it from other file types. doPDF features a small size option, high quality images option and you can setup Graphic resolution and scale from the Printing Preferences window. You can only obtain a size close to your target unfortunately and this by testing multiple prints and case scenarios with the available Graphic features.

Thank you.

Hello,

Unfortunately doPDF is not natively supported on Mac computers. You can however try an emulator such as WineHQ to run the application as it may work that way.

Thank you.

Thanks for your response. Your comment helped us figure out what was off. doPDF stamps the date on the file depending on where the file is saved on our network. It turns out the date was off on an older computer and that is our problem.

We were also thinking of connection timeout issues. We were just curious why there would be timeout issues with DOPDF but not with the other ones we tried.
